The rope factory GODET
In 1980, Roland and Didier GODET moved the historic headquarters from Rue Lafayette to an industrial warehouse in Paris’s 18th district, giving rise to the Corderie Industrielle GODET.
The history of the GODET Group has its roots in the world of rope-making, an age-old craft that has continued to evolve through the generations.
It all began with Rémi GODET’s great-grandfather, Raymond GODET, who joined the Corderie Lorraine in the 1930s, where he specialized in the manufacturing and distribution of rope.
After the Second World War, he bought the company and expanded its business around the needs of the construction and theatre sectors, two historic industries strongly established in the capital. The ropes were then used for work at height, particularly for block-and-tackle systems and façade restoration techniques.
With the evolution of safety standards and the rise of personal protective equipment, the demand for ropes in the construction sector gradually declined. Faced with these changes, the company diversified its offerings and expertise, beginning its transformation into a true group. In 2020, the historic Paris headquarters was relocated to Roissy-en-France, in the Paris Nord 2 international business park, in order to benefit from a structure better suited to future challenges. In 2023, the Selongey site began its expansion and renovation, increasing production and storage capacity as well as improving working conditions for the teams.
Over time, the GODET rope-making company, now a Group, has expanded to offer our clients the best products, services, and support.
A longstanding expertise in the field of rope-making
Specialized in the manufacturing of ropes, wire-rope slings, and lifting solutions, the Corderie Industrielle GODET now GODET has diversified and modernized over the years while preserving the unique know-how and family heritage that form its strength. Today, it stands among the leading suppliers of ropes and cables in France, with internationally recognized expertise.
At the same time, the GODET Group continued its transformation. In 2001, under the leadership of Rémi GODET, the company undertook a strategic shift with the acquisition of MANUFOR Services, a company specializing in lifting and material-handling solutions. This milestone marked a new era of expansion and diversification, strengthening the group’s expertise in safety equipment, the manufacturing of technical ropes, and the distribution of lifting accessories and devices. In 2015, the group reached another key stage with the creation of the WARDEN Winches brand, which designs and manufactures electric, hydraulic, and pneumatic winches in France. Engineered to meet the most demanding standards, these winches are used in a wide range of applications such as defense, civil protection, offshore operations, transportation, and industry. In this same momentum, the Gattegno brand a century-old specialist in cable pulling also joined the group’s portfolio, bringing proven solutions to demanding sectors such as the oil industry and electrical networks.
Today, the group is a key player in the fields of lifting, pulling, lashing, material handling, and industrial equipment. It relies on its longstanding know-how while integrating the innovations needed to meet the demands of various sectors such as construction, industry, stagecraft, the armed forces, and civil protection.
Faithful to its values of excellence and adaptability, the GODET Group continues to innovate and to commit to responsible production, with a strong determination to preserve its family heritage while looking toward the future.
Diversified, custom-made products
GODET offers a wide range of products, from simple ropes to complex lifting solutions. The company stands out through its ability to provide custom-made products that meet each client’s specific needs. In addition to ropes and cables, GODET supplies a full range of lifting equipment, such as slings, chains, straps, and other accessories. These products are manufactured with particular attention to safety and compliance with current standards.
Quality at the heart of the manufacturing process
All products manufactured by GODET undergo strict quality control throughout their entire production process. Each production batch is subjected to rigorous testing to ensure that the products meet the required standards of strength, safety, and performance.
The ropes and wire-rope slings are manufactured in the company’s workshops, where modern equipment is used to ensure precision and the quality of the finished products.
Commitment to sustainability and innovation
Like the rest of the Group, the GODET brand is fully committed to a sustainable development approach. The brand implements practices aimed at reducing its environmental footprint, whether through the use of recyclable materials, waste reduction, or the optimization of its production processes.
Innovation is also a key driving force in GODET’s strategy. Thanks to its investments in research and development, the company is able to meet its customers’ evolving needs and offer increasingly high-performance products, while adhering to ecological and sustainability standards.
